about

This was from a poem of my own, called “Expressions”, all about the artistic process. Everything that ends up expressed as art comes from somewhere but goes through little twisting changes -- we need to shake things up to see them from a different perspective. The song is about inspiration (literally: breathing in) and focuses on wind and air imagery to convey that. The image of the boat and floating away to a distant shore was inspired by Shelley and the Romantic poets.

lyrics

Get on board and float away
We’ll take this boat across the lake
To a shore to see the space
Where artists are created

Live and breathe and bask Chorus
in the gentle breezes we meet
Wait a while & the wind will inspire you

Open up a music box
That makes a sound musicians mock
Magically appearing out of
Places we forgot we’d been

Chorus / {SOLO} / Chorus

Images imagining
Themselves into being
Take the place of a painting
Be the voice behind the screen

{SOLO} / Chorus

Get on board and float away – Ahh ah
To a shore to see the space – Ahh ah
Get on board and float away – Ahh ah
To a shore … to see the space…
